About Flooring Guide DFW

Real Flooring Advice From 40+ Years of Experience Some people plan their careers. Others find their way into a trade and never look back. That’s pretty much what happened with Ben.

How Ben Got Into Flooring

Ben originally studied interior design in England and developed a strong interest in how materials, design, and construction come together.

After moving to the Dallas area in 1979, his career eventually took him into flooring. What started as an unexpected change in direction turned into a career spanning more than four decades. During that time, Ben has seen just about everything the flooring business can throw at you. He’s watched products come and go, installation methods change, and the choices available to homeowners grow from a handful of options to what can sometimes feel like an endless list.

Through it all, one thing has stayed the same: good flooring starts with good advice.

Why We Created FloorGuide DFW

Flooring is the most influential design element in a home, it sets the tone for how everything else looks and feels, from your furniture to your paint colors and lighting. However, the shopping experience for flooring is often described as overwhelming, frustrating and outdated.

Most flooring stores are simply warehouses with thousands of products. They push to sell you a product not a solution, they hand you a sample, and wish you luck

In the DFW flooring market, there is a frustrating reality

Big box Stores

Corporations that treat your home like a number and lack the local expertise. Advice seems vague and generic.

Independent GCs

While they might offer cheaper labor upfront costs, they lack the infrastructure of brick and mortar retailers. And if a contractor is not a licensed or authorized reseller, you are basically sacrificing the product warranty from the manufacturer leaving you unprotected if the flooring material fails. Taking this route also requires significant due diligence as the market is filled with stories of untrustworthy contractors taking deposits and disappearing.

The Mom & Pops

Small stores with a lot of heart, but they often don't have the right resources, long-term stability, warranties, or experienced workers to deal with the unique foundation and humidity conditions in North Texas.

As a homeowner in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, you shouldn't have to compromise. You should have the design and technical access needed to help you make an informed decision on a long term investment that defines your home.

What We Believe

If a flooring product isn’t worth the money, we’ll say so. If there’s a better option, we’ll point it out. And if something isn’t right for a particular home, we’d rather tell you that than recommend something you don’t need. That’s what we believe good flooring advice should be: honest, practical, and based on real experience. We’re not here to tell you what to buy. We’re here to help you understand your options, avoid costly mistakes, and make a flooring decision you feel good about.

Helping North Texas Homeowners

After more than 40 years in the flooring business, Ben decided it was time to pay it forward. Ben wanted to share what he’s learned over the years through Flooring Guide DFW and help homeowners across Dallas-Fort Worth make better flooring decisions without the confusion, pressure, and sales talk that can come with a flooring project. He believes homeowners deserve straightforward information before making a major flooring investment. FloorGuide DFW is his way of sharing that experience and helping people choose with confidence.
